He’s had a prolifically successful career, and now that Mel Gibson is getting divorced, he may be coughing up some serious cash to his soon-to-be ex-wife Robyn.
The “What Women Want” stud is said to be worth close to $1 billion, and without a prenuptial agreement, his estranged wife is legally entitled to half of everything earned during their marriage.
A legal insider told press, "This could easily be one of the biggest divorce settlements in Hollywood history. Any attorney would advise her to take half."
Thankfully, nobody is anticipating a messy divorce. "This divorce will probably reach a settlement in a matter of months. It likely won't be messy since there's enough money to go around."
They’ve been married for 28 years, but earlier today it was announced that Mel Gibson and his wife Robyn Moore have filed for divorce.
Moore reportedly filed the paperwork on April 9th and cited “irreconcilable differences,” and it looks like they’ll split Gibson’s estimated $900 million fortune 50/50 since there is no prenuptial agreement.
Mel and Robyn released a statement, saying, "Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so."
An inside source told press, "Mel is on family vacation with his entire family and their friends. His sons are there with their girlfriends, his pregnant daughter is there - the whole family is there."
