Suri Cruise’s Birthday Bash

Friday, April 17, 2009

She doesn’t officially turn three-years-old until tomorrow (April 18) but Suri Cruise got an early jump on her birthday festivities yesterday (April 16) in Los Angeles.

According to a People magazine report, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise went all out for their little girl, planning a princess-themed party including a “Beauty and the Beast” cake and a treasure hunt.

And unlike past parties, this time TomKat kept the guest list to just close family and friends. A source told press, "They just wanted to keep it small and make it fun for Suri and her friends."

As for her education, Suri is said to be under the instruction of top teachers already. An insider revealed, "It doesn't matter what Suri is doing, Tom wants her to be able to do it better than any other child. All parents think that their kids are special, but Tom and Katie firmly believe Suri is gifted. She is learning French and Spanish and has a tutor she sees once a week. Suri has shown a real love of dancing, so Tom and Katie are encouraging her as much as possible. She practices ballet, tap and modern dance.”

Katie Holmes Mourns Loss of Brother-In-Law

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Fresh off of saddening family news, Katie Holmes was spotted prying past paparazzi as she left Cecconi's restaurant in Hollywood on Wednesday night (April 15).

There for an early birthday dinner with gal pal Victoria Beckham, the former "Dawson's Creek" cutie is mourning the recent death of her brother-in-law, Joseph Jeffrey Fretti.

According to a Gossip Girls insider, Fretti, who was the husband of Katie’s older sister, Tamera, died in the emergency room of sudden heart failure at the young age of 48.

While he passed away in Sarasota, Florida, Fretti's funeral is expected to take place in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio, where he happened to be a funeral director.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Katie and her family.

Katie Holmes: Dancing Queen

Continuing her usual routine, Katie Holmes was spotted out in Hollywood earlier today (April 15) on her way to a dance lesson.

The “Dawson’s Creek” darling ignored the paparazzi as she made her way inside the International Dance Academy sporting a grey shirt, multi-colored scarf, and flair-legged jeans.

In related news, it sounds like Katie and her husband Tom Cruise are seriously considering sending their 3-year-old daughter Suri to Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s New Village Academy.

The school uses the Scientology-based “study technology” as a main curricular focus. An inside source told press, "The children have a lot of responsibilities from a very young age. The school is particularly strict about nutrition, demanding a low-carb, low-sodium and low-sugar organic diet."
